Binet Rouge Scionwood

Graft a Norman French Bittersweet of Real Distinction

Binet Rouge is a traditional Norman cider apple with deep roots in the French cider tradition. A bittersweet of genuine character, it produces a juice that is rich in tannin, low in acidity, and high in sugar — the hallmarks of the great Norman varieties that have defined French cidre for centuries. In the glass, it contributes warmth, body, and a subtle earthiness that speaks directly to its terroir. Whether used as a single varietal or as the backbone of a Norman-style blend, Binet Rouge brings Old World depth to the press.

We offer Binet Rouge as scionwood — freshly cut grafting wood from our own trees here at The Orchard Point Prim on Prince Edward Island. Each stick is approximately 4 inches long with a minimum of 3 healthy buds, ready to graft onto your rootstock of choice.

  • Classification: Bittersweet
  • Flavour profile: Rich apple, earthy warmth, firm tannin, low acidity, and a full, rounded finish
  • Best for: Norman-style cidre, single-varietal ciders, full-bodied blends
  • Tannin: High | Acidity: Low | Sugar: High

Scionwood is sold in 4-inch sticks with a minimum of 3 buds per stick. Order early — scionwood is harvested seasonally and quantities are limited.
