Esopus Spitzenburg Scionwood
Graft Thomas Jefferson's Favourite Apple
Esopus Spitzenburg has one of the most distinguished pedigrees in American pomology. Originating in New York's Hudson Valley in the 1700s, it was famously the favourite apple of Thomas Jefferson, who planted it extensively at Monticello. A sharp variety with lively acidity, moderate tannin, and a complex, spicy-sweet flavour profile, it makes a cider of real character — bright, aromatic, and distinctly American in style.
We offer Esopus Spitzenburg as scionwood — freshly cut grafting wood from our own trees here at The Orchard Point Prim on Prince Edward Island. Each stick is approximately 4 inches long with a minimum of 3 healthy buds, ready to graft onto your rootstock of choice.
